Featured Guide : Stuart Parker

Stuart Parker has 30 years experience of competitive orienteering and fell racing at national and international level.

As part of the Elite British and Junior British Orienteering squads, Stuart gained the British under 21 Orienteering Champion title twice and was also British Relay Champion. Stuart has extensive experience of orienteering throughout Scandinavia and Europe.

Stuart has had top 10 British fell running championship results, and competed throughout the sport's heyday alongside fell running icons like Kenny Stuart - many of the course records set at this time have yet to be broken.

Currently, Stuart is competing in the UK Orienteering Masters Cup, in the notoriously tough Vets M45 category made up of ex-international runners and British Champions. Stuart participates in the OMM, LAMM and Rab Mountain Marathons and has been involved with the organisation of major Mountain Marathons.

Based near Wasdale, Stuart regularly trains on Scafell Pike and the long west coast beaches.

Featured Clients: Kate and Carl

Kate and Carl booked two days with us, with the objective of gaining some mountain skills and starting off their training programme for a guided ascent of MT Blanc later in the year. Both keen walkers, with a bit of road running behind them, we started off with a small summit run on day one and focussed on fast moving navigation and general mountain awareness in the Grasmere Common area above Easedale on day two. They learned to use pulse rate monitors, and took home some tips on pacing and building up strength for their long slog one the big day.

We're glad to say Carl made the summit with his Chamonix based guides, Kate found out she was pregnant shortly before the trip so just got to hang out in Cham!
